NEW! FREE MOVIE FRIDAYS


Third Friday of each month, August - October


The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department is excited to partner with Walmart of Springfield to bring free, family-friendly movies to our parks as part of the new series, Free Movie Fridays. 

  • August 21: Aladdin (2019) at The Center, 401 N. Main St. (due to inclement weather).
    Movie will begin at 8 p.m. The Center will open at 7 p.m.
  • September 18: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World at J. Travis Price Park, 4155 Wilks Road
  • October 16: The Addams Family (2019) at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 2623 S. Main Street
All movies will begin at dark. Follow us on Facebook for exact movie times and stay tuned in case of inclement weather. Movie night attendees are required to wear masks when not seated for the film and to maintain a social distance of six feet from members of other parties. Designated seating areas will be spaced ten feet apart. 
Concessions will be available to purchase snacks and refreshments. Guests should bring their own blankets or folding chairs for seating. 


FREE YOUTH FISHING RODEO

J. Travis Price Park, 4155 Wilks Road

In celebration of National Fishing Month each June, the Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) hosts a Free Fishing Rodeo for children 14 years of age and under. Participants must bring all fishing gear and bait - (no artificial lures allowed). TWRA stocks the pond with catfish, bream, sunfish and other small fish for the event. FREEDOM FIREWORKS DISPLAY

Celebrate our nation's independence with a free fireworks show at dark. Admission is free. 


SUNSET CONCERT SERIES

Enjoy the sounds of summer at free sunset concerts as part of the Historic Springfield Event Coordinator's First Friday Night Markets. Concerts are held the first Friday of each month, May-September. Admission is free. 

WINTER WONDERLAND
J. Travis Price Park, 4155 Wilks Road

In the month of December, follow the lighted candy cane trails to enjoy festive holiday scenes, decorations, music, feed the animals in the petting zoo (feed machines on site) and visit with Santa in the historic cabin. Free hot chocolate (while supplies last). Admission is free. Gates open at 5:30pm and close at 9:00 pm.
