The Vehicle Maintenance Department provides preventative maintenance and repair services for all motorized vehicles and equipment owned by the City of Springfield. Vehicle Maintenance personnel have the training and expertise to maintain most of the vehicles and equipment in-house.
This department provides a full range of services to maintain and repair light and heavy vehicles, off-road equipment and small engine equipment including:
- Backhoes
- Dump trucks
- Fire trucks
- Riding lawn mowers
- Service trucks
- Tractors

The preventative maintenance program interfaces with the fueling system, work order system and the city's mainframe computer to create records of repairs and services for each vehicle and piece of equipment.
