Training

Training is critical to the department's success and the training committee strives to utilize the latest in technology for developing and presenting classroom instruction. 97% of the department's full-time personnel are certified fire professionals by the State of Tennessee Commission on Firefighting. Every employee receives training in CPR, vehicle extrication, defensive driving, hazardous materials, and medical first responder.

Personnel strive to train for a minimum of 240 hours each year including a 40 hour in-service training course scheduled annually. The part-time firefighters train regularly and also participate in portions of the 40 hour in-service training program. In addition, many of the firefighters train on their own in preparation for state certifications.

The department is equipped to respond with 3 front-line pumper trucks, 2 reserve pumper trucks, 1 100-foot aerial platform ladder truck, 1 100-foot ladder truck, and 1 brush fire truck. We also have several support vehicles and equipment.
