With the growth that Springfield is experiencing, the Parks and Recreation Department is focused on bringing more activities for families to enjoy throughout its parks system. In addition to the new skate park, in the past 3 years the City has partnered with local organizations to add a walking trail, sand volleyball courts, an 18-hole disc golf course, two (2) outdoor basketball courts, and reconstructed the baseball and softball fields at J. Travis Price Park.

Prior additions to Garner Street Park include the Central Bark Dog Park and two (2) pickleball courts. The Parks and Recreation Department is currently in the process of improving the playground, restroom, and shelter at this park as well.
