Garner Street Park Improvements
Prior additions to Garner Street Park include a skate park and Central Bark Dog Park. The Parks and Recreation Department is currently in the process of improving the playground, restroom, and shelter, and adding two (2) pickleball courts at this park as well.

The Parks and Recreation Department is currently in the process of improving the playground, restroom, and shelter. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to award a $499,995.16 bid to Great Southern Recreation for a new playground at Garner Street Park during their September 17, 2024, meeting.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to award a bid for the construction of new restrooms and a pavilion at Garner Street Park to Slagle Construction, Inc. of Springfield, TN during their December 17, 2024 meeting. While work is underway, the public restrooms at Garner Street Park will temporarily be replaced with porta potties.

Funding Source: $500,000 matching Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant awarded by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and $500,000 from the Springfield Parks and Recreation Fund.
