New Wastewater Treatment Plant
The city is building a new wastewater treatment plant to replace the existing one, which was built in 1984 and has reached the end of its service life. The new $84 million wastewater treatment plant marks the largest infrastructure project in the City of Springfield’s history. Once complete, the facility will be capable of treating up to 7 million gallons of wastewater per day (MGD), more than double the capacity of the current 3.4 MGD plant.

Crews have broken ground on the project.

Estimated Cost: $84 million
Funding Source: The project is funded by three primary sources, including American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds as well as a grant and loan from the state of Tennessee.
